NIKON D5300 CAMERA USER REVIEW

In this article, I have reviewed the Nikon D5300 camera and the Nikon 18-55mm vr2 features, which is the kit lens.
The D5300 is a device in the entry (above entry) segment that Nikon has launched. As a continuation of the 5000 series and with its 24 mega pixel resolution, it appeals to general-amateur users. We cannot say that it appeals to professional users very much. In terms of marketing, 24 mega pixels was a successful choice. The screen is 3.2 inches in size but not touch-sensitive. Although it was not a touch disadvantage, it was attempted to compensate with the larger screen. I think he left it as a marketing technique for his next model.

Kit lens: Nikon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 AF-P

Version 2 of the 18-55 millimeter kit lens that comes with the camera. (The Nikon d5300 AF-P series is also sold with a different kit, but the kit lens I studied is normal AF-S vr2) Version 2 also has anti-vibration feature. Unlike version 1, there is a lock button. Located right above the lens, this button is actually a lock. You cannot open the lens before you press that button. The advantage is that the lens can retract completely. It minimizes the length of the lens, making it easier to carry. I can say that it is a successful kit lens in quality. It looks more polite than the first version. At the same time, if you do not open the lock button, you cannot start shooting with the camera. The screen also says, “Rotate the long ring to widen the lens before taking pictures”. So you have to open this lock button to be able to take a photo.

Nikon D5300 Key Combo

There are 9 buttons on the front of the Nikon D5300. Only one of these 9 keys is the menu key on the top left of the machine. You have to use your left hand to see the menu. Playback, navigation button, zoom, zoom out and delete buttons are located on the right side of the screen while the adjuster is at the top with the I (quick adjustment) and AE-L keys. The adjusting dial is placed horizontally and only the scraps are outside the machine. There are 3 buttons at the top just above the shutter. Let’s look at the menu. Like the classic 5000 series menu, whose menu we know; there is no big difference. Some features have been added only. The most important of these features are WiFi and GPRS. In addition to the series, wifi was added to the D5300. Thanks to the application you have downloaded to your phone, you can connect to wifi and exchange photos with remote connection. At the same time, you can use your wifi as a remote control and take your photos over the phone. There are options that allow you to take the original 24mp photo while copying the photos to your phone.

Nikon D5300 Relation and Input-Output Units

D5300 is using sd card. The card entry part is on the right side, not the bottom. So you don’t have to constantly open and close the battery cover to remove the SD card. As is known in most other companies, the SD card is in the same place with the battery.

If we come to machine input and output features; As I said on the right, there is the SD card entry. On the left side, there are 4 entrances, which are also covered with a planar plastic part. The first is the HDM input, the second is the USB input, the third is the remote control input and finally the microphone input. Microphone input is a necessary feature for video footage. Although there is an integrated stereo microphone, it is nice to have a microphone input. Full HD video can be captured with the D5300. Video shooting quality is good.

Nikon D5300 focus Point and Burst Rate

It has 5 fps continuous shooting feature. Normal for a 5-mirror entry-level mirror model per second. Although mirrorless machines can offer more than twice the performance in this regard. For example, Sony nex in the same segment can reach 10 frames in 6 seconds. Again, many of the Samsung mirrors are at 9 fps.

There are 39 tracking points in the D5300. Compared to its competitors, it is stuck. For example, the Sony a6000 has 179 focus points. You can think about what we are going to do with this much point. Apart from seeing this as a technological superiority, it may be necessary from time to time for more professional shots. But I think that 39 points will be more than enough for the entry level. Because even the most advanced machines of its time were on the market with 12 focus points and it was enough to swap the market.

Nikon D5300 ISO and Photo Performance

Let’s come to the quality of photo shooting. APSC Dx (1.5 multiplier) uses CMOS sensor. Thanks to its 24 mp resolution, the photos you take are more beautiful. Though the photo quality is more about the lens than the camera, but the parts I mentioned are those related to the camera. 12-14 compressed NEF format is available for raw shooters. With ISO sensitivity that can expand up to 25600, it is possible to get better results in dark environments. You shouldn’t expect outstanding iso performance. Especially the blasting over 1600 ISO is immediately noticeable.

The shutter speed is between 30 seconds and 1/4000 seconds, just like the entry and mid-range machines of other brands. Bulb is also available in the extra manual mode. Thanks to its built-in flash, synchronization up to 1/200 sec can be established. You can also have fun while taking pictures thanks to auto, portrait, child, close-up, night portrait, party / indoor, pet portrait, color sketch effects.

Nikon D5300 Lens Range

Thanks to the Dx format, you can use all current auto focus nikon lenses. You can even use non-af manual lenses, but manually. I appreciate the fact that the nikon remains stable as a bayonet. You can wear and use even the oldest lenses. What I criticize from Nikon regarding the lens is this: Especially in the entry level machines (d3000 and d5000 series), the af engine is not built into the body. In this case, they can never use the d series electronic 5-pin lenses with automatic focus. Although aperture control can be achieved, it is not possible to make sense why they do not show the same situation on all model cameras. There is no such disadvantage for its competitors. For example, all lenses of Canon can autofocus with all of its cameras, so the d5300 cannot use D series lenses with forgiveness, but it has to use the more expensive g series lenses.

As is known, Nikon is a Japanese company. Those who follow closely will know that many products are produced in its factory in Thailand. Our Machine D5300 is produced in Thailand. Even the kit lens. The workmanship is fine and it feels quality as the material used, so that there is no such situation as quality deficiency in mind.

Many comments about the Nikon D5300 are written and drawn. There are those who say they do not deserve the price, and those who say it has been perfect … my personal opinion is that it has the potential to be bought because it is a normal camera and uses new technologies such as wifi. On the other hand, I do not entitle the critics’ ideas on the other hand: a higher segment machine can be bought at the said prices. Over time, prices in the second hand will find their place. A clean second hand can be bought and used with pleasure. It is a sweet camera that is easy to use, does not force the menu, and can focus more on details with its screen. If you are not a professional user, you can choose.
